Beauty and the Disquietingly Enchanted Forest

This beautiful February day occasioned my first visit to the Museum of Glass in Tacoma (except for some reception or other). To be honest, I'm not that big on Chihuly, and the Bridge of Glass reminds me of a trip through one of those fairytale forests where the trees are full of anthropomorphic menace. The museum exhibit space and location, however, are lovely. Kids Design Glass is both funny and inspiring, and the Preston Singletary exhibit, Echoes, Fire and Shadows, which expresses Northwest Native Art themes, is absolutely stunning.

Also, the museum's website features live video streaming of work in its hot shop.

"Anthropomorphic menace." As usual, you have SUCH a way with words. And I love the photo. Now that you mention it, it is vaguely disquieting. But beautiful.

If you got all the way down here, you are my hero. Don't forget to click on "Older Posts, though...."
